History

Culture

Haenem developed through the migration of nine warrior clans from the East, the subsequence war and compromise between them and the native inhabitants of the valley, and the development of Aetherworks, crafts, and trade.

Inir's Intervention

During the Native War, Inir saw an opportunity to limit people's use of aether, something that he believes should be solely for gods. He used Ithurael's line to rewrite the memories of the world, erasing the knowledge of Monxa trees from the collective consciousness. In doing so, he also erased the memory of Syna, and effectively locked her out of the physical realm.

Though the Natives still retained knowledge of Aetherwork, the holes in the collective memory set their progress back by decades. This resulted in the newly formed people of Haenem to spend years re-learning the mechanics of Aetherwork, which turned it into something new.

The Masters' Table

Once the Native War was concluded, the Nine Tribes had already begun to establish homes in their regions where they had been fighting. As they were not keen on ceding their autonomy to any other tribe, the tribes elected to form a confederacy of their most respected masters.

In the beginning, the masters would each meet in a randomly selected location whenever an issue arose. This led to a lot of arguing and wasted time during each meeting. Once Aetherwork came to be seen as a viable source of production and trade through the invention of the Cloud Rider, the Table began to implement more structure in both the land and in how they governed.

The Region Rankings

In order to establish order and motivate people to improve and contribute to the land, the Region Rankings were created. Each region is ranked based on a set of criteria that measure skill and output through population, education, and income.
